ION Non-thesis Graduate Program
Who can apply:
Graduates of any discipline (engineering, management, basic sciences,
etc.) who are willing to acquire expertise in the field of information
technology and systems are candidates for this program. Relatation with
informatics technology in the industry, programming experience, and
knowledge of probability / statistics are positive factors in admission
criteria. Admission to the program will be based on the Academic Rules
and Regulations for Graduate Programs of Middle East Technical University.
Acceptance of the students to the program will be based on LES scores,
undergraduate and graduate grade point averages, letters of reference
and professional experience.
When
to apply:
ION program accept applications each year
both for spring and fall semester. Fall and spring semester applications
are accepted in the preceding semester. Deadlines will be announced

Fees:
At the beginning of each term, students will pay a tuition fee based
on the number of credit hours they register in that term. The tuition
fee rate per credit hour is 300 YTL (it is determined by the university at the beginning of every semester with minimal increase rates).
How
often should students appear on METU campus:
Personal appearance of students on campus will be required three time in each term (one is at the beginning of semester, second one is review meeting on-campus during a scheduled mid-semester weekend, and the last one is at the end of the term for final exams and seminers). Details of these meetings are announced in advance.

Degree Requirements
Students are expected to complete the program in 6 terms (at most).
Course requirements are as follows:
(*) 5 core courses (3 credits each)
(*) 5 elective courses (3 credits each)
(**) Term Project (1 term, non-credits)

Graduate Seminar (1
term, non-credit)
Special Studies (All terms, non-credit)
(*) Courses will cover fundamental and current concepts of information
technology and systems in depth.
(**)
Each students is required
to complete a Term-Project and present it in seminar on campus.
Tentative
Schedule:
Students should complete ION program in at most 6 semesters. Students
who cannot complete the ION program in 6 semesters will be dismissed.

Dismissal:
Graduate
students are dismissed from their programs for the following reasons:
- If a student's Cumulative Grade Point
Average (CGPA) for the first semester is less than 1.50.
-
If a student's Cumulative
Grade Point Average (CGPA) for the second and following semesters
is less than 2.00.
-
If student has a Cumulative
Grade Point Average (CGPA) less than 3.00 at the end of 6 semesters.

If the graduate student
does not complete the program within the period.

ION
Special Student Program
What
is Special Studentship:
The University offers a special students program for students who
want to take a limited number of courses to improve their knowledge.
(It is possible to include such courses for the program, if you are
planning to apply for the program in the future.)
Who
can be a Special Student:
Special students may be admitted to the University
under the following condition: Applicants must convince the instructor
and chairperson of the related department that their qualifications
will allow them to profit from the courses.
Applications will be made to the Registrar who will refer the matter
to the chairperson of the related department.
Special students are not accorded any of the rights recognized to regular
full time students of the University, nor are they awarded any degree
or diploma. The number of courses for which they can register is determined
by the chairperson of the related department.
Foreign students must hold a valid student visa and residence permit
to be registered as a special student.
